First Rule Barber - Service Business - Website Rescue Case Study

A bold, high-energy one-page website for a Sunshine Coast barber shop built around quality cuts, strong culture and real conversation.

First Rule Barber already had a loyal following, a busy Fresha booking page and more than 3,000 five-star reviews. Our job was to give that reputation a digital home that felt as sharp, confident and unmistakable as the shop itself.

Simple Website Build

LOCATION

Sippy Downs, QLD

A proper digital home for a barber shop that had already built the reputation.

Before working with South Star Designs, First Rule Barber did not have a dedicated website. Customers were sent directly to Fresha, where they could choose a service and make a booking.

That worked for appointments, but it left very little space to explain what made the shop different.

There was no central place to introduce the team, communicate the culture, showcase awards, highlight thousands of customer reviews or promote merchandise and styling products.

South Star Designs created a bold one-page website that brings the full First Rule experience together while continuing to use Fresha as the booking engine.

Before & After

The goal was not to replace Fresha. It was to create the branded experience that should happen before the customer reaches the booking page.

BEFORE

Green website homepage with sunlit forest hero image and a person reading in a content section

Before the new website, First Rule Barber’s digital customer journey began and ended on Fresha.

Visitors could make an appointment, but they had limited opportunity to learn about the shop, meet the team, compare barbers or understand the quality and culture behind the business.

Fresha handled the transaction. It did not tell the complete First Rule story.

AFTER

Website homepage with woman portrait and headline about multidimensional nervous system regulation with spinal flow in the Nosa hinterland

The new website gives First Rule Barber a complete branded presence while keeping the booking process simple.

Visitors can now experience the shop’s personality, meet each barber, view their work on Instagram, read customer reviews, explore products and book directly with their preferred team member.

Everything is brought together in one bold, mobile-friendly experience.

The goal was not to change how customers booked.

It was to give them a reason to choose First Rule before they reached Fresha.

We created a focused one-page website that captures the energy of the physical shop, builds trust quickly and guides every visitor towards the right barber and booking pathway.

The Challenge

The website needed to feel bold and distinctive without making the booking process harder or losing the laid-back personality of the shop.

01.

Build More Than a Booking Link

Fresha made it possible for customers to book, but it did not give First Rule Barber a complete digital presence.

The business needed somewhere to communicate its story, demonstrate its reputation and show customers why the experience was different from a standard barber appointment.

02.

Bring the Shop Culture Online

The physical shop has a strong personality: dark concrete, bright neon pink, music, conversation and a team that genuinely connects with its customers.

The website needed to reflect that energy without becoming cluttered, difficult to navigate or overly aggressive.

03.

Make Every Barber Easy to Find and Book

Each barber has an individual style, personality, Instagram presence and client following.

Customers needed an easy way to meet the team, explore each barber’s work and book directly with the person who suited them best.

HOW WE SOLVED IT

The Solution

A bold one-page website that brings the First Rule experience online while keeping the path from discovery to booking simple.

01

A Stronger First Impression.

The opening section uses video, bold typography, dark styling and the recognisable First Rule pink to immediately communicate the energy of the brand.

Clear booking calls to action give visitors an obvious next step without turning the experience into a generic sales page.

02

A Team-Led Booking Journey.

Every barber has a dedicated profile featuring professional photography, a short introduction, an Instagram link and a direct Fresha booking button.

New customers can understand who they are booking with, while returning customers can reach their preferred barber faster.

03

Custom Movement & Interaction.

Custom coding and animations were used throughout the website to give the design more energy and personality.

Interactive team sections, animated headings, visual transitions and a custom review slider create a polished experience without interfering with usability.

04

A Mobile-First Experience.

The website was carefully optimised for mobile, where many customers will first discover the business and make their booking.

The one-page structure, clear section breaks and direct Fresha links create a simple path from discovering the shop to choosing a barber and securing an appointment.
